Wrestling's Most Over Babyface/Effective Heel - DVD Review

Last year I had the chance to review the first release in a new series from Kayfabe Commentaries. Wrestling’s Most Controversial Moment was their attempt to join the ever-growing list of list shows, and being a fan of such shows I was a little disappointed with the results.

Having missed out on the other releases in the series I was recently given the chance to review the final release, a two shows in one deal looking at Wrestling’s Most Over Baby face & Effective Heel.

I have to admit that I approached this one with some trepidation, given my previous experience, and while it’s well presented once again I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

With the likes of Maria Kanellis, Bill Apter, Kip James, Matt Borne and the Honkytonk Man giving their view on the wrestlers that the fans voted for it makes for interesting viewing. However, like the previous release it’s let down by the lack of actual wrestling footage.

While it’s perfectly understandable that they couldn’t use any WWE-owned footage or photos it’s these things that are vital for any list show. Just having a few talking heads isn’t enough.

It is extremely well made, although some of the interviewees come across as grumpy old men who forget that the majority of people who voted have only watched wrestling over the past decade or so, which explains why the likes of the Masked Superstar became a little irate that Tommy Rich was nowhere near the top spot in the Most Over Babyface section.

So in all, production values good, the rest a little disappointing.

With thanks to the powers that be for supplying a copy of this release. The Wrestling’s Most…series is available to buy online at www.kayfabecommentaries.com.
